GREYHOUND VOLLEYBALL

The Volley Hounds continued their late-season push that includes a scheduled Sept. 27 tri-match against Ola, Warner Robins and Dutchtown, taking on a mix of non-region foes last week.

In addition to taking on a Stratford Academy team last Thursday that’s near the top of its region, a trip to Saturday’s HoCo Invitational included matches against Warner Robins, Northside and Valdosta, the latter of which is also among its leaders in the region and has won 20 matches overall this season.

JCHS fell 2-0 by scores of 25-11 and 25-12 to Valdosta to drop the match while against Warner Robins being edged out by scores of 25-23 and 25-18 to drop the match.

The Lady Hounds ended up coming away with a win against Northside, winning 2-1. After winning 25-15, a 25-9 Northside win sent the match to a third game, where Jones County prevailed 15-11 to win the match 2-1.

On Thursday against Stratford, a 25-21 loss in the first game of the match was followed by a 25-12 defeat at the hands of the Eaglettes.

JCHS trailed 3-1 early before rallying back the get within two points late in the match, being down 23-21.

The Lady Hounds, however, could not quite close the deficit any further as they fell short.

“Our serve-receive was just not there; it’s been a struggle all year,” Lady Hounds head coach Lonnie Wheeler said. “Sometimes we have it; sometimes we don’t. Hopefully, we can get it back going.”
