Pressley Outdoors jameskpressley@gmail.com I had several interesting experiences this past weekend. First was the Atlanta Boat Show, put on by Discover Boating. Now, I have been to many boat shows in the past, including the Atlanta show; however, this was my first time working at a boat show.

Lady Hounds get split after loss to top-ranked Union Grove

For a half, the Lady Greyhounds hung with top-ranked Union Grove on Thursday, fighting back to trail by just three points at halftime. Then, the visiting Wolverines showed why they’re ranked so high and the reason that they have lost just once this year.

Highway 49 baseball/ softball sign ups ongoing Baseball and softball sign-ups are ongoing for the Highway 49 complex and go through Feb. 10. In-person sign-ups are from 6 pm to 8 pm on Jan. 25 and from 11 am to 3 pm on Jan. 27, Feb. 3 and Feb. 10.

The middle school basketball season is winding down for Gray Station Middle and Clifton Ridge Middle, with the final games of the regular season set for this Thursday. Clifton Ridge concludes its regular season on Thursday at Upson-Lee with Gray Station hosting Lamar County.

Greyhounds not satisfied despite clinching state berth

The emotions are mixed for the Greyhounds coming out of last week’s region duals. A pair of wins in their home gymnasium achieved one of Jones County’s stated goals – a spot in the region finals and berth in this weekend’s state duals. Despite that, the Greyhounds have their eyes on redemption.
