Greyhounds Wrestling Club aims to grow sport

It’s been a recent banner stretch for products of the Jones County wrestling program. Earlier this month, one former wrestler, Nate Carr Jr., was named head coach at Davidson College, and another former standout, Torrez Finney, remained unbeaten as a professional MMA fighter.

Youth Soccer Sign Ups Ongoing There is still time to sign up for the upcoming season of Jones County Youth Soccer League as there is a deadline of Aug. 19. Mandatory tryouts are Sept. 8 and practice begins Sept. 13. Age groups range from 4-16 and registration is $100 per child.

For the past three years, the Greyhounds have won a region title and forged a deep run into the state playoffs. Now, perhaps more than ever in that span of time, Jones County is positioned to do so again and strive for even greater heights. That journey officially begins Saturday, Aug.

Once the critical part of basketball season arrives, the Greyhounds will look forward to muchneeded help in the post by way of Judd Anderson, who at 6-foot-6 averaged 16 points and 19 rebounds last year at Ridgeland High School.
