Finney takes down another opponent, stays unbeaten

Torrez Finney made quick work of his opponent in his most recent MMA bout on Saturday night. Two minutes and 14 seconds, to be exact. His knockdown of a heavier opponent, Jake Zogg, kept the Jones County native and former Greyhound two-sport standout unbeaten in MMA competition.

Jones County’s Gore signs with the Mets

Jones County native Terrance Gore has a new home in the major leagues, and it’s worth another team within the National League Eastern Division. Gore, who appeared on the Braves postseason roster last year, signed a minor-league deal with the New York Mets last Wednesday.

Softball team advances to South Sectional

LIZELLA – Jones County's softball all-stars in the age 7-8 division made their way to the district tournament last week. By virtue of a handful of wins that advanced them to the tournament finals, Jones County will play in the South Sectional scheduled for next weekend.
