With 19 wins on the season, the Volley Hounds have already surpassed last year’s win total of 18.Needless to say, that mark stands to be shattered with the regular season set to wrap up early next month. But Jones County is hardly content.

Grit keys Volley Hounds to split with ACE, Veterans

As the PSR rankings go, the Volley Hounds so far are among the top 10 teams in the GHSA’s AAAAA classification.Last Thursday showed why. Jones County, which is 16-4 as of the end of last week, bounced back nicely after the first half of a tri-match against Veterans before a sweep of ACE.

On the field and in the standings, the past few years have been close quarters on the softball field for Jones County and Union Grove. The two tied for second in the region last season, and three of the past six regular-season matchups between the teams have been decided by one run.
