Hounds win three of four with region tourney in sight

In a 10-team region, momentum is king for those teams seeking to be one of the four teams making their way to the state tournament.The past week showed that the Greyhounds may indeed have a nice slice of it at the perfect time.

The tight window of time isn’t doing much for the Greyhounds in the way of favors.Last Monday was the first official day for Jones County to be on the field for practice, and after a few days of tryouts, the field of players was thinned out.

Mike Chastain, the most successful head football coach in the history of the Greyhounds football program, has resigned, along with Jones County School System Athletic Director Chad Alligood.  Both confirmed their resignations to The Jones County News on Monday.

Due to falling short of the state duals and last week’s weather putting wrestling on hold, finding a way to get back on the mat was key for the Greyhounds in front of this weekend’s region traditional tournament.

With the schedule reworked to end the regular season, the Lady Greyhounds will now wrap up their slate of games against the current second and third place teams in the region. Between that and the region and state tournament to follow, the emergence of challenges is inevitable.
