The Kiwanis Club was pleased to make a donation to the local Boys and Girls Club. President Charles Newberry presented the donation to Pamela Peek, representing the Boys and Girls Club. The Kiwanis motto is “Serving the Children of the World.

A couple of GES Zoomies, the school’s Sport Stack team, Parker O’Gorman and Lucas Watts, attended the AAU Junior Olympics in Greensboro, N.C. July 26-28. Students qualified for the Junior Olympics after attending the Hotlanta tournament in February.

Putnam County and the rest of Georgia are being invaded by armies right now, specifically armies of destructive caterpillars called fall armyworms. The armyworms eat up an entire home lawn or farm hay pasture, forage or row crops in no time flat.

Harold A. Phillips was born in Forsyth and attended Hubbard Elementary and Hubbard High schools from 1959 until 1970. In 1970, he began his senior year in the first all-integrated class at Mary Persons High School in Forsyth, graduating in 1971. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in February 1972.
