St. Paul A.M.E. Church is sponsoring a voter registration drive on Saturday, Sept. 14 and Saturday, Sept. 21, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The location is the Maggie Califf High School where the shop and/or Alternative School was located.Any young people who will be 18 on or before Nov.

Harris bikes more than 3,000 miles

One Jones County High School senior has quite a lengthy story about what he did on his summer vacation, namely cycling over 3,000 miles.Diallo Harris started riding at age 10, progressing from a bicycle to a road bike, which led to him becoming a member of the cycling group at Create Inc.

Public library visits reach new high

The annual report for the Middle Georgia Regional Library system revealed a fact that does not surprise anyone who is patron of the Jones County Public Library.Among the many statistics in the report, the patron visits to the Jones County Library increased by 9,000 over the previous year.

Bill Piper is the local veteran of the week.He entered the U.S.Air Force in 1956 as an aviation cadet, completed pilot training in February 1958, and completed further training at the advanced fighter interceptor school at Moody Air Force Base.

GES Zoomies compete in Sport Stacking

A couple of GES Zoomies, the school’s Sport Stack team, Parker O’Gorman and Lucas Watts, attended the AAU Junior Olympics in Greensboro, N.C. July 26-28. Students qualified for the Junior Olympics after attending the Hotlanta tournament in February.
