Jim Moughon is the local veteran of the week. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea from 19521956 as an infantry officer in the 25th Infantry Division (Tropic Lightning), achieving the rank of lieutenant colonel. Upon his return from Korea, he served in U.S. Army Reserves.

Friends of the Library encourages community to visit

The Jones County Friends of the Library is still having their used book sales and encourages the community to snag some reading material for a great price for the summer.Sarah Hancock, president of the Jones County Friends of the Library, said she’s always excited for the used book sales.

Numbers up for summer reading at public library

Jones County’s summer reading program was at the top of the region in 2023 and is on track to exceed those numbers this year.The summer reading program had its kickoff at the Jones County Library June 5 with an outdoor event that included games, bubbles, slides and popsicles.
