THIS WEEK Gray Church of God yard sale Gray Church of God will have a multifamily yard sale Saturday, May 14 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at 137 Atlanta Road, Gray. Some clothes are free, baby items, tools, furniture, etc.

Jones Countian becomes 2022 Watermelon Queen

Adahy Pritchett, of Jones County, is the 2022 Georgia Watermelon Association Queen. Pritchett will spend her reign as queen teaching others about the benefits of watermelon and why watermelon is important. She said she was born in Macon but has always lived in Jones County.

Memorial Wall at sheriff’s office inspired by Black, Burnette

The loss of two longserving officers to cancer within eight days of each other in 2020 was the catalyst for a memorial wall at the Jones County Sheriff’s Office that was unveiled last week. The wall was dedicated April 21 with the families of the five officers in attendance.

National Day of Prayer set today

Jones County will participate in the National Day of Prayer at Carol’s Park at 6:30 p.m., May 5, to pray for the nation. Debra Hall, coordinator for the Jones County National Day of Prayer, said she is excited to pray along with others on that day.

Richard “Rick” Tipton is the local veteran of the week. He completed 20 years of military service, encompassing three years in the Army serving as a military policeman and 17 years in the Navy. He served in both Southeast Asia and the Middle East. Do you know a veteran we can feature?

Gray Garden Club celebrates Garden Week

Help prevent child abuse in Jones County

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. Child abuse is a problem in Jones County like in any other county in the U.S., but making residents aware of what they can do to help is the first step.
