Corporal Carr was stationary on Shurling Dr. monitoring traffic when he observed a vehicle pass by with no license plate. Carr conducted a traffic stop at this time. When Carr made contact with the driver, she advised that she had just purchased the vehicle and was going to get the vehicle registered soon. When the driver handed Carr the bill of sale, he could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. The driver also advised Carr she did not have her license with her but provided her name and date of birth. Two passengers were also asked for their identification at this time. Carr ran the information on all occupants in the vehicle through the GCIC/NCIC system and it alerted that one of the passengers was wanted out of Monroe County due to probation violation. The driver advised Carr there was a small amount of marijuana in the car, so he conducted a probable cause search.
In between the seat and the center console he located a small clear baggy that contained marijuana, and more clear baggies in a bag belonging to one of the passengers. He then located a Glock 23 Gen 5 pistol under the driver’s seat. When Carr provided the gun information to dispatch to verify, it came back stolen out of Bibb County. The driver and one passenger were arrested and transported to the Jones County LEC where Carr secured warrants for theft by receiving felony on both subjects and a warrant for possession of firearm by convicted felon on the passenger.

Deputy Harden responded to a BOLO from dispatch on a vehicle possibly involved in an abduction or domestic incident. When Harden stopped the vehicle, all occupants were asked to exit the car and complied also providing the deputy with their identification. The witness that reported the incident advised that he saw the vehicle stopped on the side of the road with two men pushing a woman on crutches to the ground. The witness also reported the men put the women in the vehicle and left. Harden had one of the occupants step to the rear of the car to ask about the situation. The man advised Harden the female was very intoxicated and had been up drinking most of the night. She told the driver of the vehicle she had to stop to use the restroom, so they pulled over and let her out. The man also stated they were not pushing her in the car, but trying to help her get back in. Harden had the second male step aside. The deputy was doing a routine pat search of the male when he found a small plastic bag containing a white powdery substance (cocaine) in his front watch pocket. While asking the male about the incident, he told Harden the same thing the other male did as to why they were putting the female in the car. Sgt. Humphries arrived on the scene to assist. Harden did place one of the males under arrest for the cocaine and placed him in handcuffs. When Sgt. Humphries placed the offender in his vehicle, during a pat search, he found a bag of green leafy substance believed to be marijuana in his possession. The deputy then questioned the female and she advised Harden that they were not pushing her, but she was intoxicated and unable to stand very well with her bad foot. The female and one of the male occupants were released and the other male was transported to the Jones County LEC where he was issued a citation for possession of marijuana less than one ounce and a warrant for possession of cocaine.

Deputy Kile was patrolling Hwy. 18 East when he observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. Kile activated his Raptor Radar and 115 mph appeared in the box. At this time, the deputy activated his blue lights and caught up to the vehicle to make a stop. Kile notified dispatch of the stop and upon checking the driver’s tag and license the deputy found that the driver’s license was suspended for failure to appear, and he did not have insurance.
The driver was placed under arrest and the next available wrecker service called to tow the vehicle. During a vehicle inventory search, Kile located three Psilocybin candy bars. Psilocybin is a schedule 1 narcotic. The driver was transported to the Jones County LEC. Corporal Carr was sitting stationary on Hwy. 44 monitoring traffic and observed a vehicle with the entire front windshield tinted. At this time, Carr conducted a traffic stop. The driver identified himself and advised Carr he just recently purchased the vehicle, and the tint was already on it. Carr returned to his patrol car and ran the driver’s information through GCIC/NCIC and the photo that showed up was not the male subject driving. Carr then returned to the offender and had him exit the vehicle and placed him in handcuffs. Carr advised the offender that he knew the name given was not his real name and therefore he was being detained. The offender then advised Carr the name he gave was his brother’s name because his license was suspended, and he just did not want to go to jail. Carr then sent K9 Ella to the vehicle to do a free air sniff and Ella alerted to the odor of narcotics. When Carr searched the vehicle, he found a clear bag of marijuana in the center console. The offender was transported to the Jones County LEC and issued citations for window tint violation and driving while license suspended.
