Veterans Committee finalizes plans for celebration

The Jones County Veterans Committee has been working on plans for this year’s Veterans Appreciation Day to continue a tradition that started in 2001 of thanking veterans for their service.This year’s event will take place Nov. 9, beginning with the Col. Gray’s newest restaurant Surcheros now open

Less than six months after its groundbreaking ceremony, Jones County’s newest eatery opened its door to customers.Surcheros celebrated its grand opening Sept. 24 with franchise founder Luke Christian in attendance, just as he was at the April 10 groundbreaking.

Sonrise Ministries held its Customer Appreciation Day last weekend with food, discounts and giveaways. Ministry leader Ronnie Hinson began the Sept. 21 event with a prayer in the Farmers Market at Sonrise Ministries and the exciting news of free hotdogs, chips and drinks to all customers.
