Georgia entering vacation season short of game wardens

With the traditional summer vacation season getting underway, Georgia continues to suffer from a chronic shortage of game wardens to serve its 2 million hunters and 600,000 to 700,000 anglers.The state Department of Natural Resources (DNR) boasted 250 game wardens back in 2000.

Man charged with fleeing police gets 10 years

A disabled veteran facing serious charges in Jones County entered a guilty plea in Superior Court last week and was sentenced to a combination of confinement and probation.Henry Thomas Redd was in court May 23 and received a total sentence of 10 years with the first year to serve in confinement.

Jones County Commissioners celebrated the Jones County Youth Track and Field Team to begin their second meeting in May.Board Chairman Chris Weidner called the May 21 meeting to order, and the opening prayer and pledge were led by UGA Extension Coordinator Brennan Jackson.
