Early Voting Details

Advanced voting is April 29 through May 17 at the Jones County Elections Office, located in the Government Center, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.The date for the  General Election is Nov. 5. The final day to register for the General Election is Oct. 7.

Senate candidate focuses on marijuana legalization

Leland Olinger knows he isn’t your typical candidate for a state legislative seat, and a look at a photo of him tends to support that conclusion. However, the Senate hopeful says his message goes beyond his physical appearance.“The way I look gets people’s attention,” Olinger said recently.

Man goes missing, found under overturned ATV

An ATV accident turned to tragedy last week when a Jones County man who had been missing several hours was found deceased.Daniel Wiggins, 45, was pronounced deceased at the scene of the accident at 3:30 p.m. April 21 by Jones County Deputy Coroner Stacy Gardner.

Forum brings candidates together to face questions

The candidates in the May 21 primary election attended a forum last week to answer questions from members of the community. For those who were not able to attend, the forum was live streamed and is available to be viewed on the Jones County/Gray Chamber of Commerce Facebook page.
