It did not appear to come as a surprise to anyone in Jones County Superior Court last week when the not-guilty verdict was read following a trial in which the evidence boiled down to the testimony of the complainant.Without physical evidence, it was a tough case to win.

The Jones County School System celebrated its teachers last week with a banquet recognizing the best of the best.The 2023-24 Teacher of the Year ceremony was held March 28 at Butler Hall. At the conclusion of the program, Chelsey Asbell was named Jones County’s Teacher of the Year.

American Giant hunter Joel Baker made a dream discovery in the woods of Jones County near Milledgeville. Located near its original home, a 20-foot former Phillips 66 cowboy was found and rescued for restoration on March 14.

The Jones County High School Greyhound Battalion traveled to the state capitol for a look at how state government works and to visit nearby attractions.More than 850 JROTC cadets from across the state joined the 14 cadets from JCHS March 6 for a day at the capitol.
