Chiefs bring suggestion for staffing of fire departments

As if transitioning to paid firefighters in Jones County was not enough of a challenge, the Board of Commissioners is also preparing for the retirement of the department’s current director. Don Graham has served as Jones County’s Emergency Management Director since his appointment in 2009.

Cruelty to animals results in 15-year sentence

One of two defendants in an animal cruelty case entered received a sentence of 15 years following the entry of a guilty plea. Lisa Michelle Barnes entered her plea Feb. 15 in Jones County Superior Court. She was sentenced to five years for each of four counts of aggravated cruelty to animals.
