It would be hard not to know that 2024 is a presidential election year, but it is also election year for Jones County elected officials. Those offices include County Commission Districts 1-4 and the chairman of the Board of Commissioners.

State Senate bill targets cyberbullying

State Sen. Jason Anavitarte introduced legislation this week aimed at protecting teenagers from cyberbullying and other negative effects of social media. Anavitarte, R-Dallas, and Lt. Gov. Burt Jones, who presides over the Senate, first announced they planned to target social media last summer.
