Housing Committee to disband but can return if needed

A dedicated group of volunteers has accomplished its mission after more than a decade of advocating for Gray and Jones County’s housing needs, according to elected officials who met Sept. 28 at Butler Hall.

Defendant pleads guilty to shooting friend

The careless mishandling of a rifle by a Jones County man resulted in the death of his friend, a guilty plea and a sentence of seven years. De’Vante Jakari Ross was in Jones County Superior Court Sept. 21 to enter his plea for the offense of involuntary manslaughter.
