First, the Greyhounds took an early lead in Friday's season opener at Veterans.Then, they poured it on, going on to begin the Justin Montgomery era with a 34-12 win against the Warhawks.Jones County blew the game open with two big first-half plays on each side of the ball.

Life on a Jones County dirt road suits Vaughn just fine

Wendy Vaughn is no stranger to dirt roads. She has run rescue calls on them, lives on one, and now as their county commissioner, represents her constituents who live on them.Vaughn, 55, has lived in Jones County all her life, graduating from Jones County High in 1988.

Kiwanis Club awards raffle winner

The Kiwanis Club of Jones County held its annual raffle recently to raise money for projects that benefit children in our community.The drawing was held in downtown Gray and a video of the drawing was posted on the Facebook page of the Kiwanis Club.

JCSS convocation kicks off 2025-26 school year

The Jones County School System hosted its annual convocation at Clifton Ridge Middle School to usher in the start of the 2025–26 school year. Faculty and staff gathered just before students returned to campus.

Qualifying for this year’s city election next week

Qualifying for the City of Gray’s election of mayor and council members will take place next week with more than one newcomer anticipated to be in the race.The dates for qualifying are Aug. 19-21, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day.
