Grady Tyler is the local veteran of the week.He went into the U.S.Maritime Service at 16 years of age. He sailed on a liberty ship, working in the engine room on a four-hours-on/eighthours- off shift. His first trip was to Nova Scotia, Canada.

Veterans committee considers return of interviews

The Jones County Veterans Committee had its first meeting of 2025 last week to begin preparations for the 25th Veterans Appreciation Day celebration.The June 26 meeting was called to order by committee chairman Ret. Col. Richard Combs, who has led the committee since 2008.
