April 28, 1964 - Jan. 1, 2026
Marjorie Ruth Greene, age 61, passed away peacefully on Jan. 1, 2026. Born on April 28, 1964, Margie lived a life marked by compassion, curiosity, and a deep love for learning and people. A visitation for family and friends was held Sunday afternoon, Jan. 4, 2026, at Gray Memorial Chapel 4378, Gray, Georgia from 4 to 6 p.m. A private service to honor Margie was held at later date by the river that she loved. Rev. John Hainey officiated.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oliver Greene Jr. and Mary Frances Gibbs Greene Wicker. Margie was lovingly raised by her grandparents, Jesse Brundage Gibbs, affectionately known as “Daddy Bubba,” and Frances Bozeman Gibbs, who played a profound role in shaping the woman she became.
Margie is survived by her siblings, Deanna Greene, Tommy Greene (Amy), Tondra Greene Barnes (Eddie), Ginger Wicker Morris (Frank), and Fran Greene (Bart) Jackson, along with many extended family members, friends, former students, and colleagues who were touched by her life.
A true free spirit, Margie found joy in reading, gardening, traveling, caring for animals, and spending time in nature. She cherished being outdoors, whether exploring new places or simply enjoying the quiet beauty around her, and she especially loved spending time at the river with family and friends. Margie dedicated 28 years of her life to teaching, where she was nothing short of spectacular. She inspired countless students through her patience, creativity, and unwavering belief in their potential. Teaching was not just her profession—it was her calling.
Known for her generous heart, Margie quietly sponsored children in need and consistently looked for ways to give back. Her kindness extended far beyond what many ever knew, leaving a legacy of compassion and selflessness.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Linda Arnold, Community Ambulance, Allison Altman, and the compassionate staff at Pine Pointe Hospice for their exceptional care, kindness, and support during Margie’s final days. Their dedication and comfort meant more than words can express. Marjorie Ruth Greene will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her warmth, generosity, and the lasting impact she made on so many lives.
It’s Margie’s wishes that in lieu of flowers, she would like for you to help a child in need.
