McKenzie Funeral Home, 610 South Rosemary Avenue, Andrews, SC was in charge of a graveside service at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in, Hemingway, SC on Tuesday, Jan. 27 at 1:00 p.m.
Wade was born on, March 12, 1956, in Hemingway, SC to the late Horace Reese and Claudia Mae Avant Tyler. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a nephew, Bruce Tyler.
Wade was a pipe fitter and welder at Elliott Machine Shop. He retired with thirty-three years of service. He was an old school guy that could make and do anything with his hands.
His motorcycles, his 1966 Corvette Stingray along with his 1984 Chevrolet truck was his passion since he could work on anything. As a side note, Wade would never own a Ford truck. He taught his children the importance of self-sufficiency early on. Learning to drive, fish, camping, hunting, welding, cooking and gardening were a guaranteed skill set. When he became ill, an episode of Wheel of Fortune or Gunsmoke would always calm his discomfort.
Wade always put his family first no matter what and living life to the fullest with them by his side. He always made sure family and friends had what they needed whether it was a roof, meal, job or anything to help them get back on their feet. He was a man who believed in doing your best. No matter how hard Wade worked, he made time to cook for people and family gatherings and he was a family man through and through. His many little one liners included, “If you love someone, or something you have to take care of it,” “never turn your back on family” and “we’ll take one day at a time” and “my family will never go without.”
Wade is survived by his children, Brandy (Tony) deHaas and their children, Luke (Claudia), Stella and Maxine deHaas, Chase (Amber) Tyler and their children, Cameron and Cody Tyler, Bailey and her children, Linley and Lottie Tyler; brother, Wayman (Shirley) Tyler; sister, Robin Tyler; and aunts and uncles, Curtis (Birdie) Avant, Mary Thames, Juanita (Baylis) Elliott, Alice Barlett.
