National Day of Prayer hosted at Carol’s Park

Dear Editor:

The Jones County National Day of Prayer is Thursday, May 5, at 6:30 pm in Carol’s Park. This is an appointed time for all concerned citizens throughout the world to come together and unite in prayer before our Heavenly Father on behalf of our nation. Your presence is requested. Your prayers of agreement are needed.

Public prayer has been an essential part of our heritage, dating back to the Declaration of Covenant prayed by Robert Hunt at Cape Henry in 1607, years before the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. Official Proclamations of Thanksgiving and Prayer have continued since that time, including the National Day of Prayer, which is actually a national law. This is one special day of the entire year that was written into law for the purpose of prayer for America. It is both lawful and wise for all citizens to show public respect and appreciation for our godly heritage as a nation. As Christians and concerned citizens, it is our responsibility to pray and stand in the gap for America.

Faith-filled prayer is the first step in this battle for the heart and soul of America. This is a rallying cry for the Body of Christ in Jones County to come together in public prayer for our nation. God is still in control and all things are possible with Him.

Can you think of anything that is more important, or of more eternal value on this day in history, than giving an hour out of your evening to take a public stand for our nation? Join us, along with hundreds of millions around the world, as we exalt the Lord and Appeal to Heaven concerning the issues battling for the heart and soul of America.

Our team is very excited and expectant about this year’s event because we know God’s desire is to heal our nation. Our hope is that America will turn back to God, our government be transformed, and that revival, restoration and fresh awakening begin in every city of every state in the nation. We are expecting God to move in a BIG way!

Everyone is welcome! Bring your family, friends, church members and civic groups. You may wish to bring a folding chair or blanket. This event should last an hour or so. In the event of rain, we will move to the old sanctuary at Gray Baptist Church.

I believe this National Day of Prayer will be the most significant ever. There are no guarantees this won’t be our last opportunity to gather for this purpose. Let’s pack the park and rock this night for the Kingdom of God in our community.
