Jones County: Robert “Bobby” T. Bentley went to be with his Lord and Savior Wednesday morning, Nov. 9, 2022.

Visitation was at First Baptist Church of Gray, Gray, Georgia Sunday Nov. 13, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. Services followed in the church sanctuary at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Randy Darnel officiating.

Burial was at Haddock Baptist Church Cemetery, Haddock, Georgia.

Bobby made Jones County his home for the last sixty-seven years. He was born on Nov. 1, 1928, to the late Sid and Zelma Bentley in Lincolnton, Georgia. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged. He served his community in many roles over the years which included the Gray Fire Department Chaplain for twenty years, a member of the Gray Masonic Lodge, founding member of the Jones County Veterans Committee, and recognition of the veteran of the week in the Jones County newspaper. He taught Sunday school at First Baptist Church and was the videographer and assisted with creating the church web page. Bobby’s joy was found in his wood working shop making gifts and toys for children.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of sixty-three years Florence McDade Bentley brothers, Albert Bentley, Guerry Bentley, and sister Inez Powers.

Survivors include sons, Richard (Rick) Bentley (Sheila), Paul Bentley, and daughter, Tina Bryant (Mark); grandchildren, John Bentley, and Donna Alsop; great-grandchildren, Kyra McCury, Lanie Bentley, Gavin Bentley, Carter Alsop, and Keelin Alsop.

The Gray Fire Department and Jones County Veterans served as honorary pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, the family requested that donations be made to the Jones County Veterans Memorial, P.O. Box 1611, Gray, Georgia 31032 in memory of Mr. Robert (Bobby) Bentley.
