Sidney Ray Mimes, Sr. passed away on April 3, 2023. Funeral Services were conducted on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at 1 PM in the Williams Funeral Chapel in Milledgeville with Rev. Ken Walker officiating. Burial was at Haddock Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family received friends at Williams Funeral Home on Wednesday from 12:00 PM until the service time.
Mr. Mimes was born and raised in Milledgeville, Georgia and a 1958 graduate of Baldwin High School. He was affectionately called “Pop”. He was a Master Carpenter by trade building houses for over 50 years, and a Master Barber, an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a long-time dedicated Georgia Bulldog Fan.
Mr. Mimes was predeceased by his parents, Sammie and Annie Meeks Mimes; brother, Carl Mimes, and first wife Hildred Mimes. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Amy Mimes; daughters, Renee Dabney (Marvin); Tina Thomas; sons, Sid Mimes (Lana), Sam Mimes (Melanie), Jamie Thompson (Kelly) and Jacob Thompson (Kaitlyn); grandchildren, Ryan Bruck, Nicholas Bruck, Jesse Denaro, Ashley Rogers, Bridget Hall, Katie McCants, Haley Mimes, Trey Mimes, Macie White, Peyton Simmons, Luke Thompson, Caleb Thompson, Reagin Thompson, Kenny Jarrard, and Casey Dodd; great-grandchildren, Henley Bruck, Brenlyn Mimes, Hadley Denaro, Rachel Hyman, Ansley Hyman, and Emmaline Hall.
Also surviving are other extended family members special to Ray’s heart: Carla Mimes Payne, Melinda Mimes, Elaine Butler, Katy Crance, Baelyn Crance, Logan Collins, Kenli Jarrard, Kayli Jarrard, Kori Jarrard, Karalai Jarrard, Moss Holden, Rosalyn Holden, Madison Hall, and Averie Robbins.
