HADDOCK: Joseph Carlton Spence passed away Friday evening April 28, 2023, at Pine Point Hospice after a brief illness. Visitation for family and friends will be Friday, May 5, 2023, at Gray Memorial Chapel from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
Graveside service will be Saturday, May 6, 2023, at Antioch Baptist Church Old Gordon Road, Dry Branch, Georgia at 2:00 P.M. with Scott Walston officiating.
Carl was born on October 27, 1944, in Laurens County to the late Myrtle and Thomas Waddell and James Carlton Spence and Mary Spence. Preceded also in death by his grandson Hunter Dunlap.
Carl was self-employed since 1967 and the owner of JCS Auctions. He loved his family with all his heart. Love of his farm and cows. He served his county proudly during the Cuban Missile Crisis in the United States Navy.
Carl is survived by his loving wife; Pat Spence of 56 years, daughters; Carla (Benjie) Knight and their children; Brittany Knight, JoAnna (Jeff Ivey) Smith and their children; Rollin Ivey and Marley Spires, Joey (Sarah Ryan) Spence and their children; Anabelle, Evie Spence, and Lucy Boaen, great grandchildren; Carly Dunlap, Orion Dunlap, and MJ Sandoval, brother; Wayne (Judy) Spence and sister; Brenda Vanderveen.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Disabled American Veterans Association or American Cancer Society.
