Be of sin the double cure, save from wrath and make me pure (Hymn Rock of Ages; first verse; third line) Jesus is the Rock of Ages. His holy Blood, shed on the cross, does three things for us.

One--His Blood saves us from the wrath of God to come. Anyone who is unsaved has the wrath of God against sin abiding on them (Jn 3:36), and one day, unless saved, that wrath will fall. The Blood alone saves from God’s wrath.

Two--His blood makes us pure. Holy, righteous, like Jesus. The Blood washes away ALL sin, and those who believe on Jesus have His righteousness imputed--ascribed--to them (2 Cor 5:21). With Jesus’ Blood on us, the Father proclaims us clean, without sin, and His wrath will “passover” us.

The Blood alone makes us Jesus pure.

Three--Though not mentioned in the hymn, His Blood makes us a child of God. Until saved, you are a child of the devil (Jn 8:44), and his lusts and works you do. But upon being saved, you become a child of God, adopted into His family forever (Gal 3:26). The Blood alone makes us a child of God.

Come to the Rock of Ages and let His Blood work these three miracles in your life today.
