Betty Jo Hinton Bowden, a cherished resident of Jones County, Georgia, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family on December 3, 2023. She was born on February 16, 1937, in Reynolds, Georgia. A Celebration of Life will take place on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church Gray, preceded by a visitation for friends and family from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at Cedar Ridge Cemetery, and Reverend Randy Darnell will officiate the service.
Betty was a devoted sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, whose love touched the lives of everyone around her. She had an immense capacity for love, always wearing a warm smile that brought joy and happiness to all who knew her. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church Gray, where she found a second family among the Sara B Sunday School class and the Young at Heart Group. Betty’s love for her church community was evident in her unwavering dedication and involvement.
Betty is survived by her loving children, Darrell Bowden, Nancy Shreve (Dale), and Keith Bowden; grandchildren, Kyle, Cole, and Katie; sisters, Melissa Gee (Clifford), Barbara Davidson (Larry), and Marianne Stevens (Mike); brothers, Robert Hinton and Larry Hinton (Gina); along with numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ralph Coleman Hinton and Mary Vivian McInvale Hinton; her beloved husband, William Darrell Bowden, Sr.; daughter, Sandra Stuckey; brother, Gene Hinton; sister, Karen Hinton; and sisterin- law, Dianne Hinton.
