Victor Lee “Pa” Gardner

Dec. 19, 2023

Mr. Victor Lee “Pa” Gardner, of Jones County, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2023, after fully enjoying 92 years of life.

Vic was married to the love of his life, Joanne Scott Gardner, for 68 years. He is survived by his wife, Joanne Gardner; son, Rusty (Rhonda) of Gray, Georgia; four grandchildren, Dusty Gardner (Stacy), Tara Bullington (Tyler), Lacy Gardner-Hattaway (Jeremy), and Russ Gardner; and eight great-grandchildren, Cheyenne Davis, Hunter Davis, Eli Gardner, Kennedy Gardner, Evan Gardner, Savannah Gardner, Phoenix Hattaway, and River Hattaway. He is predeceased by his loving mother, Ada Gardner and son Michael Gardner.

Vic was born in Dublin, Georgia and graduated from Lanier High School.

He served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict and retired from Georgia Kraft after 35 years.

Vic was an avid and experienced hunter with many trophies and deer tales to share. He was also a writer of fictional stories and poems inspired by family members or hunting experiences. Vic was quick to pen a letter to the editor of local newspapers sharing his opinion on controversial topics. His family avoided discussing politics with him.

Vic had a full, active life in many hobbies and areas of interest. He loved to fish and hunt not only deer, but turkey, duck, dove, rabbit, and squirrel. He enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves and Georgia Bulldogs but was quick to complain about the outrageous amounts both players and coaches were paid. He had a great love for the outdoors whether it was hunting, cutting grass, or just walking through the woods. His biggest joy was spending time with his constantly growing family. Vic loved his Lord, had a strong faith, and was a member of Elam Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held at Hart’s Mortuary, Jones County Chapel, Thursday, Dec. 21, 2023, at 3:00PM, with visitation at 2:00PM. Interment followed the service at Cedar Ridge Cemetery.
