Jayne McCurdy Bennett

Aug. 27, 2024

Jayne McCurdy Bennett was welcomed into her eternal reward on August 27, 2024.

During her 84 years here on earth, she served faithfully as a wife, mother, teacher, and friend. After her husband of 52 years passed, she moved to her birthplace, Glennville, Ga, to reacquaint with childhood friends and make new friends. She moved her membership back to her childhood church, First Baptist Glennville, and joined the JOY Sunday school class where she was a faithful member. She enjoyed checking on her church friends, mowing her grass, tending to her garden and making pear relish with the pears from her prolific tree.

More than anything, she enjoyed her blueberry field in Wayne County. In the summers, she would get up early and have her quiet time with her Lord, then she would load up her buckets, drive to Jesup and pick blueberries until it was too hot.

In the late afternoons, you could find her in her yard, on her lawnmower.

She is now rejoicing with her husband, Buddy Bennett; her parents, W.

G. and Virginia Surrency McCurdy; her sister, Joy McCurdy; her brothers and their wives, Jimmy (Janice) McCurdy & Joe (Ann) McCurdy, as well as a beloved nephew, Lee McCurdy.

She is survived by her children; Jan (Bert) Oliver of Glennville, Dr. Richard (Maggie) Bennett of Gainesville, Stetson (Jennifer) Bennett of Blackshear, John (Misty) Bennett of Gray, Dr. William (Mary) Bennett of Rome; 18 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, one great grandson, are left to carry on her example of servanthood.

Celebration of Life services were held 3:00 p.m., Friday, August 30, 2024, at Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Shon Cunningham officiating.

Interment followed in Little Creek Cemetery.

Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home of Jesup was in charge of arrangements.
