Jones County: Barbara Foster Williams passed away on Tuesday evening, November 29, 2022 at Emory Saint Joseph’s Hospital surrounded by her loving family after a brief illness. Visitation was Saturday, December 3, 2022 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Gray Memorial Chapel, 4378 Gray Highway. Funeral services were held Sunday, December 4, 2022 at Pitts Chapel United Methodist Church at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. John Haney officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Barbara was born on October 12, 1937 to the late Frank Foster and Francis Smallwood Foster. She was a legal secretary for Durwood Mercer, Judge C. Cloud Morgan, and the Ocmulgee District Attorney’s office. She was the President of the Mattie Wells PTA, President of the Macon ARC Association and Cub Scout Leader. A dedicated member of the Pitts Chapel United Methodist Church for over seventy years. She held various leadership and service roles during her lifetime at the church she loved. A published author “Please Get Off The Tilta- Whirl” in honor of her special needs son Monte Williams.
Preceded in death by her loving husband of fifty-six years, George A. Williams, her son, Monte Williams and brother, Van Foster.
Survived by her son, Michael Williams and his children, Candace Foster, Curtis Williams, Cameron Williams and Luke Williams.
Daughter, Melanie (Eddie) Pipkin and her children, Rachel Pipkin and Nicholas Pipkin. Greatgrandchildren, Joseph Foster, Jacob Foster, and Suzanne Williams. Sisters, Faye (Charles) Reese and Betty (Carl) Reese.
