Howard Earl Martin, 79, of Gray, GA, passed away Saturday, Oct. 8, 2022. A funeral service was held Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Greenwood Baptist Church with the Reverend Kim Washburn officiating. The family greeted friends Monday, Oct. 10, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Hart’s Mortuary, Jones County Chapel.
Interment followed at Haddock Baptist Church Cemetery, Haddock, Georgia. Flowers appreciated and memorial donations may be made to Greenwood Baptist Church Building Fund, 3400 Gray Hwy, Gray, GA 31032.
Mr. Martin was a graduate of the University of Alabama and a member of Greenwood Baptist Church. He retired from Shaw Industries where he was an engineer and worked many years after retirement at Ace Hardware. Howard could fix anything and enjoyed working on sewing machines. He was a kind and gentle man who loved the Lord and his family, especially his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Howard was a die-hard Alabama Crimson Tide football fan, and his absolute favorite pastime was watching his grandbabies play ball.
Mr. Martin is survived by his wife of 45 years, Katherine Deloris Roberson Martin, of Gray; children, Rachel Harris (Randy), of Bonaire, GA, Lynette Maddox (Joe), and Richard Morgan, III (Jennifer), all of Macon; grandchildren, Meghan Harris, Maranda Harris, Colby Maddox (Allison), Katie Collier (Brett), Courtney Nipper (Ethan), Richard Morgan, IV, and Kendall Morgan; great-grandchildren, Mikayla Williams, Morgan Barlow, Ella Nipper, Brayden Nipper, Maddie Collier, Mollie Collier, Brooks Maddox, and Kensleigh Morgan; and brother, Gerald Martin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mangrum Elton Martin, and Katherine Miller Martin; son, Judson Dean Martin; granddaughter, Morgan Grace Harris; and brother, James Martin.
Serving as pallbearers were Richard Morgan, IV, Kendall Morgan, Joe Maddox, Ethan Nipper, Brett Collier, and Krys Woodward.
