Jerry Clayton “Clay” “Cooter” Etheridge

Jerry Clayton “Clay” “Cooter” Etheridge, 57, of Jay’s Place, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2022, at a local hospital. Services were held at 1:00pm, Saturday, Sept. 3, 2022, at Gray Memorial Chapel in Gray.

Mr. Etheridge was born April 11, 1965, in Macon and had lived in Jones County most of his life. He was the son of the late Jerry Franklin Etheridge. Mr. Etheridge was a retired truck driver with Old Dominion Freight Lines and attended Roopville Baptist Church in Carrollton. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his grandparents: Adolph “Doc” and Ethel Lyles Frost and A.J. and Becky McAllister Champion and a brother: Jerry Scott Etheridge.

Mr. Etheridge is survived by his daughters: Brittiney Etheridge, Kelly Maxwell, Rheabecca Brown and Jenifer Etheridge; wife: Karen Etheridge; mother: Nita Champion; sisters: Lori Littlejohn, Sheila Godfrey and Bonnie Lewis; grandchilden: Austin Etheridge, Landon Etheridge, Jaydon Etheridge, Elizabeth Etheridge, Ayden Etheridge, Derek Hayes, Jr., Joshua Ford, Blake Etheridge, Jacob Etheridge and Hunter Brown; nieces and nephews: David Etheridge, Luke Andrew Diedrich, Johnathan Christopher Littlejohn, Morgan Lee Littlejohn, Tristan Ted Ross, Aaron Gregory, Kaleb Lewis, Kimber Lewis, Shelby Godfrey and Cheyenne Godfrey.
