Peggy Powell Johnson, of Gray, Georgia, passed away on Friday, Aug. 26, 2022, in Macon, Georgia. Graveside services were held on Tuesday, Aug.
30, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Big Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Peggy was born on Jan. 16, 1949, to the late Frank and Margaret Powell.
She graduated from Thomasville High School and obtained her bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Valdosta State University and her master’s degree from Georgia Southwestern University.
She taught 4th and 6th grade for more than 33 years and continued teaching Adult Literacy at Central Georgia Technical College until her retirement.
She was a member of Real Life Church in Macon, Georgia.
Peggy is survived by her husband of 47 years, Nick Johnson; her son and daughter-in-law, Nathan and Sarah Johnson and grandson, Braxton; stepdaughter, Teresa Johnson and grandchildren, Matthew, Jonathan and Ashley; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Debbie Powell; nieces and nephews, Alicia McConnell, Beau Elkins, Mandy Powell West and Brandon Powell. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Margaret Powell; sisters, Betty Elkins and Elaine Powell.
