Phyllis Ann Astumian, 84, of Joycliff Road, passed away Monday, Aug. 22, 2022, at a local hospice facility. The family greeted friends from 2:00pm to 3:00pm, Monday, Aug. 29, 2022, at Gray Memorial Chapel in Gray. Services followed at 3:00pm, in the funeral home chapel with interment at Cedar Ridge Cemetery in Gray.
Ms. Astumian was born May 15, 1938, in Orangeburg, South Carolina and had lived in the middle Georgia area most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Phillip Najeb Astumian and Florence Demars Astumian. Ms. Astumian was also known as Sister Therese Marie with the former Sisters of Mercy Nunery. She was a retired school teacher for the Bibb County School System and was preceded in death by a brother: Phillip H. Astumian, Jr.
Ms. Astumian is survived by her sister: Patricia Astumian Clark; brothers: Raymond DeMars Astumian (Nellie) and Michael Anthony Astumian, Sr.; and by several nieces and nephews.
