The region tournament awaits in the middle of April at McDonough’s Richard Craig Park for the Jones County tennis teams, two days that will determine the Greyhounds and Lady Greyhounds state tournament ambitions being realized.
The final chances to fine-tune ahead of that tourney have arrived for both teams as they are in the final span of the season. As last week concluded, the Greyhounds were in line to be the fourth seed entering the region tournament with the Lady Hounds second. If they finish in that spot in the region tournament, the Lady Hounds would host a firstround state tournament match as they did last year as region champions.
Both teams split at Houston County early last week, the Lady Hounds winning 3-2 and the Greyhounds losing 4-1 before beating the heat and GMC Prep last Thursday in identical 5-0 sweeps as well as 4-1 wins by both teams on Monday.
