Lady Hounds confident as region slate draws hear

The Lady Greyhounds began this week with a steady build-up of momentum. Despite a loss to a Mary Persons program that regularly makes its way into the postseason, JCHS sees plenty to hang its hat on.

CRMS notches a pair of shutout wins

Clifton Ridge Middle picked up two more wins last week via shutout, beating Jasper County 14-0 and Lamar County 13-0. The Cougars play Gray Station on Thursday at JCHS and host Henderson Middle on March 5.

The Lady Greyhounds are headed to the state quarterfinals, and they’ll have home-court advantage with a trip to the final four at stake next week. Jones County beat Ware County 34-32 Friday.

Times announced for JCHS basketball playoff games

Game times are now set for the Greyhounds and Lady Greyhounds in the second round of the GHSA AAAAA state tournament. The Lady Greyhounds will play Ware County at 6 p.m. Friday in Waycross. The winner of that game will play either Greater Atlanta Christian or Midtown.

Hounds open state tourney with upset win

For the second postseason in a row, Jones County has opened the boys AAAAA state tournament with an upset of a region champion.  The Greyhounds went on the road Wednesday to Peachtree City and held off McIntosh late 57-49 to advance to the second round of the state tournament.

Greyhounds see plenty of bright spots in spite of losses

On one hand, an 0-2 start to the season can be viewed as a rough start. But for the Greyhounds, last week’s pair of games against Mary Persons gave them a chance to see how different parts of the roster fared.

Postseason underway for Hounds, Lady Hounds

The postseason began earlier this week for both the Lady Greyhounds and Greyhounds, and the possible postseason path was one with familiar opponents. The Lady Greyhounds, who began the state tournament as the second seed from GHSA Region 2-AAAAA, hosted McIntosh on Tuesday.

Martin places third in state; Hounds finish in top 10

Countless wrestlers arrived at the Macon Coliseum late last week with multiple goals. For those who were seniors, that included being able to win the final match of their high school.
