The goal was common on Saturday morning at the Highway 49 complex for players from parts of south, central and north Georgia: to make connections and gain the notice of coaches from nine schools during Earl Chambers Football Camps held their event on a chilly morning.

Greyhounds split pair of matches

The Greyhounds began this week with three matches to go leading into the March 1 region opener against Locust Grove. Jones County plays Friday at Mary Persons and Feb. 27 at Peach County, coming off a split of two contests last week.

Another date in the Sweet 16 round awaits the Lady Greyhounds.  A 15-2 run blew things wide open for Jones County on Tuesday night in the first round of the GHSA Class AAAAA state tournament against McIntosh as the Lady Hounds toppled the Chiefs 62-32.

Lady Hounds finish second in region

If the goal for the Lady Greyhounds is to be clicking on all cylinders just in time for the postseason, then last week’s region tournament showed that Jones County may be doing just that.

Lady Hounds overwhelm Central in shutout victory

Repeated pressure paid off over time for the Lady Greyhounds last Thursday. As a result, they evened their record at 1-1 with a 6-0 win against Central Macon. Jones County was able to put together multiple quality scoring chances out of its offensive sets in the first half.

Six athletes from three sports sign letters of intent

A combined six student-athletes from Jones County had one common cause for celebration last Wednesday in the JCHS cafeteria.
