Hounds building on momentum

The blocks of which to build on continues to be put in place for the Greyhounds on the soccer field. As the final stages of Wednesday’s home match against Northside played out, Jones County got on the board thanks to a goal off the booming foot of Jacob Watts.

The euphoria still hung over the Lady Greyhounds a week ago. But in the afterglow of the emotional win against Ola from the week before, moving on to the task ahead awaited.

Golf teams sweep Vikings

Both the Greyhounds and Lady Greyhounds claimed a win against FPD last Thursday at River North Country Club. The Greyhounds won with a round of 154 to FPD’s 164 with the Lady Hounds round of 147 besting the 165 of FPD.

Lady Hounds fall in state semifinals

The Lady Greyhounds' best season in 20 years came to an end Saturday afternoon at the Akins Ford Arena in Athens as Jones County fell 69-49 to Kell, the state's second-ranked team in the AAAA classification. The Lady Hounds were led by 21 points of Aubrey Norris and 14 by Kamiyah Adams.

Greyhounds open region play with blowout of Eagles Landing

On paper, the likes of Union Grove, Locust Grove, and Ola are the teams that Jones County will have to contend with for supremacy in Region 2-AAAA.But no team can be taken lightly, and that approach showed for the Greyhounds on Monday at Cecil Patterson Field as they began region play with ease.

Lady Hounds take down Ola for OT win

A season ago, the region came down to a four-way race between Jones County, Locust Grove Ola, and Union Grove. For that reason, gaining an early upper hand in the region standings carries a heavy weight of importance.

10U All Stars win district

Jones County’s Mite League Basketball All Stars are district champions.The 10U all-stars won the district crown with last week’s victory against all-stars from the City of Decatur and will next compete on the state level of play in Carrollton.
