Greyhounds emerge from dead week, hit practice field

One of the GHSA’s two summer dead weeks came to a close to begin last week, and strong evidence was shown on the lower end of the JCHS campus with voluntary football workouts getting started.

Across four evenings last week, the game of soccer was the focal point during the annual JCHS Soccer Camp. Boys and girls players spent multiple days working on basics and finer points of the game with Lady Greyhounds and Greyhounds coaches leading the way.

Nipper powers to second-place finish

Jones County’s Jordy Nipper continued his mastery of Senoia Raceway on the dirt track racing circuit on Saturday. He drove to a secondplace finish in the limited late model feature at the 3/8-mile dirt track after qualifying third.

Parks & Rec to offer girls flag football

One of the fastest growing sports in Georgia is coming to Jones County’s recreation fields. Sign-ups for girls flag football are now underway for ages 7-14. At this time, plans are for teams to compete in 8U, 10U, 12U and 14U age divisions.

SUMMER SIGN-UPS

Youth Football and Cheerleading sign-ups go through Aug. 1 Sign ups run until Aug. 1 for Jones County Youth Football and Cheerleading. The age for both is 5-12, and the cost of $130 per participant. Uniform fitting will be mandatory and birth certificates should be presented when registering.

With basketballs bouncing across the gym and sneakers bounding up and down the floor, the Greyhounds basketball program hosted its annual basketball camp across four days last week in the JCHS Gymnasium.

Moore, Robertson to coach track and boys soccer

With the calendar turning toward summer, two more head coaches are in place for two Jones County sports. They join Kim Hanner, who was previously tapped as head coach of the Lady Greyhounds volleyball program.
