The Greyhounds and Lady Greyhounds have a bit more time to prep for the start of region play with last week’s matchup with Locust Grove being rescheduled.

JCHS runners dominate Middle Georgia Distance Carnival

Events such as Saturday’s Middle Georgia Distance Carnival throw the door open for track and field distance runners to turn in strong showings in the early part of a season.

Howard, UGA stay hot, begin SEC play next Destin Howard helped 18th-ranked Georgia to a 14-8 win on Friday against Ball State, giving up a run and a hit as a reliever and the Lady Bulldogs went 4-1 in the Bulldog Classic to go with wins against Samford as well.

JCHS taking advantage of course time so far

On-course time against other teams was an issue last spring for the Greyhounds, with a good part of their matches being washed out by weather. That’s far from the case this season as so far, spring-like weather has given way for the Greyhounds and Lady Greyhounds.

Clifton Ridge coasts by Monroe County Clifton Ridge went 1-0 on the baseball diamond last week, coasting past Monroe County 12-4. Chase Hasty got the win, pitching four innings in allowing a pair of runs and striking out eight.

Bunn, Goins sign with Piedmont College

Mary Michael Bunn and Keegan Goins may compete in two different sports for Jones County, but they’ll have the same college destination. Both signed national letter of intent during a joint signing ceremony last week in the JCHS cafeteria with Piedmont College.

Greyhounds fall in Final Four

Jones County’s historic postseason run came to an end Friday afternoon in Carrollton, losing 66-54 to region nemesis Eagles Landing.

TUCKER – Last week alone, the Greyhounds traveled more than 430 miles in their return to the state tournament. And after two rounds and a pair of upsets, there’s still more traveling to do on Jones County’s postseason journey.
