Wrestlers win Locust Grove Invitational

A late schedule change by the Greyhounds last week sent them to the Locust Grove Invitational, and it was a circumstance in which they thrived. Competing in a field of 18 teams, Jones County won first overall.

For all intents and purposes, the preseason run of Jones County’s basketball season ended on Saturday. And that span came to a close with a victory for the Greyhounds.

Bulldogs swat Yellow Jackets in Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate, end regular season 12-0

Top-ranked Georgia (12-0) was able to overcome a slow start against Georgia Tech (5-7) and defeated the Yellow Jackets 37-14 at Sanford Stadium on Saturday. Georgia head coach Kirby Smart knew his team was going to get Georgia Tech’s “best shot.

Fall sports season highlighted by multiple region titles

If the Greyhounds region handed out an all-sports trophy for fall sports, then the most recent one would easily rest at Jones County. As the winter sports season arrives, the fall is in the fresh rear view, one in which three different Lady Greyhound or Greyhound teams captured region titles.

8U All Stars win district title

Jones County’s Department of Parks & Recreation hosted the district football tournament on Saturday with teams in the 8U, 10U and 12U divisions competing.

ALUMNI UPDATE

Ross, Blue Raiders win third in a row Middle Tennessee State closed its season on a three-game winning streak with Saturday’s 33-28 win against Florida International. JCHS product Teldrick Ross played a substantial role in the win, having three tackles and a pass breakup.
