Bulldogs hope offensive strides continue against Gators

Georgia enters Saturday’s rivalry game against Florida coming off one of its best offensive performances of the season versus Ole Miss.The Bulldogs piled up a season-high 510 yards of total offense and a second-best 43 points in last week’s win over the Rebels.

Greyhounds thriving on multi-pronged approach at running back

When it comes to running the football, only one running back, except in the case of a trick play, can touch the ball on a single play. Throughout the season, the Greyhounds have leaned on a multi-pronged and balanced approach to the ground game, dividing the workload between multiple running backs.

Intensity already picking up for Greyhound wrestlers

The feel was different on Monday afternoon when the Greyhound wrestlers made their way to the wrestling room for the first official day of practice.Part of that was on a white board on one of the building’s walls that lists the season schedule, one that begins Nov. 8 at Harlem.

Alumni basketball game on Nov. 1

Greyhound basketball alumni are invited to take part in the second-annual alumni game on Nov. 1. Set for 4 p.m., the event will be followed by the varsity boys and girls purple and white game. Alumni game entry fee is $30 per player with participation in the 3-point contest being $20.

Dupree era underway for Greyhounds

A new era of Greyhounds basketball officially began on Monday as Jones County held two days’ worth of tryouts to set the roster.Monday was the first day that teams statewide were allowed to hold practice, and the Greyhounds took full advantage under new head coach Dylan Dupree.

Lady Hounds not shying away from challenges

The offseason showcases and team tournaments are in the rear-view mirror for the Lady Greyhounds.Now, as they come off an appearance in the round of 16 a season ago, Jones County’s focus turns to the season ahead, one that will be stocked with challenges before region play starts Dec. 2.
