Greyhounds bounce back for fourth-place finish ahead of region tourney

Due to falling short of the state duals and last week’s weather putting wrestling on hold, finding a way to get back on the mat was key for the Greyhounds in front of this weekend’s region traditional tournament.

Lady Hounds rise to challenge, turn away Woodland; now 18-1

With the schedule reworked to end the regular season, the Lady Greyhounds will now wrap up their slate of games against the current second and third place teams in the region. Between that and the region and state tournament to follow, the emergence of challenges is inevitable.

Hounds’ foul fortune continues

The toughness of breaking past the proverbial threshold continued for the Greyhounds on Saturday afternoon in 49-46 loss as Rudy Bowden’s shot from near halfcourt missed to the left, giving JCHS five losses in a row, four by a combined total of 18 points.

Staff members speak

JCHS Head Football Coach Mike Chastain said he felt his character and integrity had been attacked. He said he was grateful to be working for a system that is supportive of its coaches. Chastain said his top priority as head coach is the football players and teaching them to be great young men.

Wrestlers place in state’s top 15

Jones County’s middle school wrestlers took the mats among the state’s best at Saturday’s state middle school duals with multiple wrestlers coming away from the day with victories as they were among the 15 teams competing.

Snakebit Greyhounds showing no signs of letting up

The Greyhounds continue to make a habit of playing themselves into position to win basketball games. At the same time, they also continue to be snakebit, as bad breaks down the stretch have resulted in four losses in a row by an average of 5.8 points per game.Still, JCHS is hardly discouraged.

Lady Hounds take three more wins ahead of Friday showdown with Stockbridge

When the Lady Greyhounds host Stockbridge on Friday, the matchup of two top-10 teams will give JCHS the chance to widen its current one-game lead atop region standings.Before that time arrives, however, there’s a bit of business to take care of for the Lady Greyhounds.
