The enthusiasm when it comes to volleyball in Jones County is palpable these days. Further proof was shown last week at not just the JCHS gymnasium but even across the way toward Gray Station Middle School.Last week, tryouts for both the high school and middle school teams were held.

The Lady Greyhounds danced into history this season by winning the first soccer region title in program history.Not surprisingly, Jones County has also dominated the all-region selections from GHSA Region 2-AAAA.In fact, a total of nine Lady Hounds were named all-region.

At least for now, the burning of the early-morning oil has concluded for the Greyhounds.Ahead of this past Tuesday’s J-Day Purple and White Scrimmage game, Jones County held all its spring practice sessions in early morning hours, starting at around 5:30 a.m.
