Read Across Jones promotes literacy, community in schools

Jones County schools recently participated in Read Across Jones, where students engaged in various activities to promote reading and writing. Kristen Beaver, literacy specialist for Jones County, said she was excited for the events that took place during Read Across Jones.

ESPLOST election set Tuesday; early voting ends Friday

The continuation of a Jones County one-cent Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax for Education is on the ballot for the March 21 Special Election. Early voting will continue through Friday, March 17, at the Jones County Elections Office in the Government Center. Early voting takes place from 9 a.

Fugitive wanted for murder, robbery arrested

The second of two brothers wanted for multiple crimes in Jones and Bibb counties is in custody after being apprehended by the U.S. Marshals Regional Task Force. The arrest was announced March 9 by Jones County Sheriff Butch Reece on his Facebook page.
