Read Across Jones promotes literacy, community in schools

Jones County schools recently participated in Read Across Jones, where students engaged in various activities to promote reading and writing. Kristen Beaver, literacy specialist for Jones County, said she was excited for the events that took place during Read Across Jones.

Child molester found guilty, sentenced to 150 years

A 38-year-old defendant was found guilty of every charge against him and sentenced to 50 years to serve in prison at the conclusion of a jury trial that took place in Jones County Superior Court.

A convicted sex offender, who was living in Jones County at the time of his most recent arrest, entered his guilty plea in Superior Court to eight new charges of sexual exploitation of children and one charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
