Last week’s safety check by officers with the Jones County Sheriff’s Office resulted in the arrest of a Douglasville man for drug charges, including trafficking in cocaine.

Commissioners to apply for grant to expand water system

Jones County Commissioners were underwater for much of their two meetings last Tuesday while considering how to meet the need of constituents with available funds. Board Chairman Chris Weidner called the March 7 work session to order that was scheduled to discuss water and sewer issues.

High-speed chase ends in arrest of felon

A routine traffic stop for speeding on the Gray bypass led to an arrest for multiple charges after the driver decided to attempt to elude officers. Eric Deshawn Bell, 28, was arrested March 8 and charged with fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer.

In early December, students from all over middle Georgia came together to audition for the Georgia Music Educators Association District XI Honor Band. The honor band students (chosen from 22 different counties) met together in a clinic held on February 10-11 at Baldwin County High School.
