Dames Ferry first grade students celebrate love

First graders at Dames Ferry Elementary School celebrated Valentine’s Day by passing out Valentines cards and having a party filled with lots of love.

This year’s recipient of Hamilton-Williams award surprised

The recipient of this year’s Hamilton-Williams Award is the daughter of one of the icons for which the award is named. Jones County History & Heritage Inc. held its annual Hamilton-Williams banquet Feb. 9 at Trish Ann’s Antiques and Tea Room in Haddock. Jones County History and Heritage Inc.

La pleads guilty to charges from dangerous pursuit

A Hinesville man pled guilty in Jones County Superior Court to charges received as the result of a chase with multiple law enforcement agencies that thankfully ended with no one injured. Stephen La entered a guilty plea Feb. 9 for two charges of theft by receiving stolen property.

Pair indicted for crimes against victim who helped them

Two Jones County men were indicted by a grand jury on charges that involved a victim who had the misfortune of attempting to help them. Joshua Ballard and Aaron Goolsby were indicted Feb. 6 for aggravated assault and kidnapping. Ballard is in the Bibb County jail, having been arrested Nov.

Traffic stop leads to arrests for trafficking

A routine traffic stop in the City of Gray resulted in trafficking charges after a firearm, drugs, drug paraphernalia and pills were found in the vehicle. Cedric Walter Whitehead, 43, was arrested Feb.

JROTC obstacle course approved for competitive events

The Jones County Board of Education took a huge step in the building of the school system’s JROTC program with the approval of a Raider Challenge Obstacle Course that should be ready to host competitions by the next school year. The Feb.
