Armed robber pleads guilty, to serve 10 years

A Macon man received a sentence that included 10 years to serve in prison as the result of an armed robbery that took place at a local motel. Shedric Lanorris Mims entered a guilty plea in Jones County Superior Court Jan.

Traffic fatalities up last year over just two in 2021

Traffic fatalities in Jones County were up from the previous year with five reported in 2022 compared to the two reported in 2021. The first fatal accident in 2022 took place Feb. 2. It took the life of a 26-year-old and injured two people in the other car.
