Jones County election results follow state’s lead

Jones County mirrored most of the state with a majority of voters casting their ballots for Brian Kemp for governor and other Republican candidates in the down ballot contests.
Jones County also voted for Republican U.S. Senate candidate Hershel Walker by a margin close to three to one.

Sister pleads guilty, to serve three years for RICO case

The sister of one of the primary targets of a 2021 Jones County Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act case entered a guilty plea that included the requirement of testifying against her codefendants.

Women plead guilty to felony insurance fraud

An attempt at insurance fraud ended with felony charges in Jones County Superior Court for two women involved in the crime.

County moves forward with $1 million-plus courthouse renovations

Jones County Commissioners approved a housing study for Haddock and voted to move forward with renovations to the courthouse despite the escalating cost of materials.
The Nov. 1 meeting was called to order by Board Chairman Chris Weidner, who also led the opening prayer.

Scarborough arraigned for felony murder, assault

A defendant in a felony murder case is one step closer to trial following his arraignment in Jones County Superior Court last week.

2.5 million Georgians voted early

ATLANTA – Georgia voters turned out in full force during the state’s early voting period, with about 2.5 million people voting early in person or by absentee ballot.
The vast majority of those ballots – about 2.3 million - were cast through early voting in person at polling stations.
